need-to-know-sat-test-college

The SAT is an essential exam for many college applications. So any time there are significant changes to how the SAT works, that is big news for college hopefuls. The pandemic certainly changed standardized testing forever, and in its wake, here are some of the updates that you can expect when taking the SAT in 2023.

  • Digital – Put down your number two pencils. The SAT is moving to a 100% digital format. This is to allow the test to adapt to the student. No, you can’t take the test from home even though it is digital. You do, however, have the option to use your own device that you bring with you or to borrow a device for taking the test.
  • Shorter – The test doesn’t take as long as it used to. Sure, the length of the exam has changed multiple times since its inception, but this latest update shrinks the entire test into a two-hour timespan.
  • Calculators – The use of calculators became possible in the 90s, but it has been reaffirmed with this latest update. The good news is that if you can’t afford a $200 graphic calculator, you can use the one that is built into the online exam.
  • Scoring – Instead of waiting weeks to find out your score, you will now receive it in just a few days.
