Fall is upon us, and many students are about to embark on their college journey. How can you make a success of your first year at a university? Here are a few quick tips.
- Set a good schedule – Of course, you need to plan time for your classes and study. You also need to factor in work if you have a job. But remember to schedule plenty of time for sleep. You need enough rest if you are going to perform your best.
- Schedule enough credits – You only need 12 credits per semester to be considered fully matriculated, but your degree will take much longer than four years at only 12 credits per semester. On the other hand, don’t load your schedule up so much that you can’t do well in your classes. Shoot for at least 15 credits per semester and see what works for you.
- Remember to fill out the FAFSA (again) – Yes, you need to fill it out every year if you want to get free money for college every year. Don’t miss the deadline and get stuck with huge college loans to pay for next year’s tuition.
