summer-programs-highschool-students

There are so many summer programs available to students who want to get a jump start on college. Today, we’re going to list just a few, depending on the category of course that you are looking for. There are tons of courses available, so be sure to do your own research and find one with the program that meets your needs and your budget. Here’s a small sample of what is out there.

  • Creative Writing – The Kenyon Review Young Writers Workshop is a two-week program in Ohio. It comes with a big price tag, but financial aid is available. The Kenyon Review is a stalwart in the creative writing field and looks great on a student profile.
  • Journalism – The good news about the Princeton Summer Journalism Program (PSJP) is that it is a free 10-day course at a prestigious university. The bad news is that it is extremely competitive to get in. But if you do, it adds prestige to your student profile.
  • Medicine – The NIH High School Summer Internship Program is a two-month long internship that is not only free, but it also comes with a nice monthly stipend to help you afford to spend all summer away from home. Only about 1 in 8 applicants are accepted for this prestigious course, but you’ll work alongside some of the country’s leading medical researchers.

Obviously, this is a very limited example of what is out there. Whether you are interested in art, literature, history, science, or any other major, you will find a course for you.
