SAT Exam Changes – What You Need to Know 1

Standardized tests are not going anywhere anytime soon. While the pandemic threatened the test for a time, the fact is that the College Board is not even going through with plans to let students take the test at home. So yes, you are still going to have to go to a testing site. However, there are many interesting changes that you may appreciate. Here are some things you need to know:

  • The SAT has gone digital – You will now take the test at a laptop – no more #2 pencils.
  • It’s a shorter test – The entire SAT exam is now to be completed in two hours or less. You’re not being placed under more pressure – they just made the test shorter.
  • You’ll know how you did in a matter of days – This is a big advantage of the digital test. You won’t have to wait weeks for the test to be scored and the results to be sent to you.
  • You can use a calculator on all parts of the math section.
  • The reading passages for the comprehension section are reduced in length.
  • You don’t have to bring your own device, but you can – This levels the playing field for those who may not have a good device of their own, but it also allows those with a good laptop to take the test on a device they are already comfortable with.
