Student mental health is an important topic. We want to consider a list of indicators that may reveal you are experiencing student burnout. However, please keep in mind that this is not a medical blog. Some of the symptoms listed here could be related to health conditions that require the assistance of a medical professional. Don’t be afraid to call a doctor to get the help you need!

The following symptoms could be indicators that you are experiencing student burnout:

  • New procrastination – You find it tough to get motivated to start school assignments, but you didn’t have this issue before
  • Loss of academic confidence – You once were sure you would get good grades, but now you find yourself second-guessing your performance after every test or when turning in a big assignment
  • You’re getting sick more often – stress can weaken the immune system
  • You are experiencing new or increased feelings of anxiety or depression
  • You feel uninspired and are lacking in creativity
  • You find that you are becoming irritated more easily than in the past
  • Deadlines suddenly seem like a giant you have to slay, or you find you are missing deadlines when you never had this problem before
  • Exhaustion – No matter how much you sleep, you find yourself dragging through every day

These are just a few indicators of student burnout (check our recent blog posts for some practical and health-related prevention tips for burnout).
