Here are a few tips to help you use LinkedIn the right way as a student:
- A professional profile photo is a must – That doesn’t mean you have to hire a professional to take the photo for you. However, it does mean you should avoid distracting backgrounds, wear professional attire, and avoid the use of AI.
- Compose the perfect summary – If you don’t have an attention-grabbing summary, the admissions officer may not read further down the page (not to mention potential employers). You don’t want to use buzzwords just to create hype – recruiters and admissions officers will see through that. Think more along the lines of what you hope to get out of your education and mention your future career goals.
- Use the experience section to your advantage – Be sure to include languages you speak, volunteer work, certificates you’ve acquired, hobbies and skills, internships, and things like that.
