student-profile-tips-college

The difference between getting into that reach school you’ve been dreaming about versus going to one of your match universities could come down to one simple element of your student profile. In order for nothing to be lacking, you should consider taking a summer program at a university before applying to schools. But how can you choose the right one and balance it with other summer activities like internships or volunteer work?

Here are a few things to know about finding the best summer program for you:

  • Course lengths vary – Some courses may only be a week or two long, leaving you with plenty of time to pursue other summer activities.
  • Don’t shop by price – We’re not saying to avoid free courses; actually, quite the opposite! Many of the best summer programs will be free if you meet the requirements and your application is accepted. Paying for a summer course is okay, too – just be sure you are getting your money’s worth.
  • Merit-based programs mean the most – What is more important to college admissions officers than anything else is that you were able to get into a merit-based program that shows you are already meeting qualifications for higher education.
