From volunteer work and internships to school clubs and extracurriculars, there are plenty of ways to pad a student profile. And many students will be trying to add some or all of these to their credentials. If you want to take your student profile to the next level, here are a few more things you can try to do.

  • Start your own business – Becoming an entrepreneur shows that you have an interest in pioneering your own way. If your business really takes off, that’s an even bigger plus. But even if it doesn’t, the fact that you have an entrepreneurial spirit will catch the eye of college admissions officers.
  • Build an online presence – From having your own website to building a following on social media, there are plenty of ways to ensure the admissions officer will be impressed when they Google your name. However, this can be a double-edged sword if they find photos or posts on social media that flag you as not having the character of a person they want at their university. So, while being true to yourself, you should also be sure to carefully curate what you post publicly.
  • Have research papers published – By the end of your college journey, you should be able to create authoritative articles. But showing that you are already at that point in high school would be very impressive to an admissions officer.
