Karen Rowe

Karen has spent the last 20+ years advising students on college planning in large public schools on the east coast, rigorous private schools on the west coast, and with an online independent college counseling company in the Bay Area. She has helped students gain admission to the top UCs as well as Ivy and elite public universities around the nation. She has worked as an external application reader for the University of California and has been a multi-time national presenter on college advising.

Karen is an energized career educator who has formed lifetime bonds with students and enjoys celebrating their successes and growth. She loves helping students get organized in the often overwhelming college application process. She also enjoys helping parents ease anxiety while their child pilots this college journey by using frequent and thorough communication.

She grew up in upstate NY and attended college in Rochester, where she earned her BA in Psychology. Seeking more sun, she moved south to attend North Carolina State University, where she earned her Master’s degree in School Counseling. Convinced she was born on the wrong coast, she now resides in Truckee, California, where she loves her active outdoor lifestyle in the Lake Tahoe region.
