Jamie M.

Jamie Manias is a poetry MFA candidate at Bowling Green State University whose work appears in several literary magazines. As a creative, she loves helping applicants turn details from their lives into engaging and memorable hooks. Her artistic background balances her rhetorical training in the University of Toledo’s Writing Studies MA program, where she became an expert at articulating an audience’s potential interpretations of an essay. 

At these colleges, Jamie has taught first-year college writing, research writing, and creative writing classes. For years she was a Writing Consultant to both high school and college students, offering guidance on all kinds of essays, including undergraduate, graduate, transfer, internship, and scholarship application essays. Her experience as a professional proofreader, scholarship board member, and literary magazine editor further informs her advising process.

In her free time, Jamie loves to play D&D, listen to audiobooks, and break her heart by browsing Petfinder for dogs she cannot yet adopt according to the terms of her lease.
