Missing the Fall Semester Doesn’t Mean It’s Too Late to Go to College

Missing the Fall Semester Doesn’t Mean It’s Too Late to Go to College 1

There are many reasons students decided to skip the fall 2020 semester. Some were worried about going to school and getting COVID-19, perhaps even bringing it home to their family. Others feel like they don’t learn well in an online environment and want to wait for their school of choice to hold in-class lectures again. Others just refuse to pay full tuition for remote learning. Regardless of the reason, you are far from alone if you decided to sit this semester out.

For example, according to an NPR report, undergraduate enrollment is down 3.6% from the fall of 2019. That’s a reduction of more than half of a million students. Another half-million students account for the dramatic 10% drop in community college enrollment for fall 2020.

Does this mean you are out of luck if you wanted to go to college? Not necessarily. Plenty of students take a year off, and some people don’t end up going for a degree until later in life. Whatever your intentions may be, just remember that these schools will still be there when the concerns that are holding you back are out of the way.
